When I was in Argentina, I saw a bunch of graffiti bicycles around the city. In the Guerra Sucia (Dirty War), the government would kidnap, torture, and kill anyone who resisted them. These people came to be known as desaparecidos (the dissapeared). The graffiti bicycles represented the bicycles that were left behind, the owners never to return.
